I love the new web page. It's dynamic, colorful, and absorbing. I especially love the integration of old and new productions. It clearly shows how The Team has evolved over the years. Doc Dar
It's obvious in your photos that your students are very motivated and focused. We'll see you in Lincoln! C.L.H.
This site is way cool. I have seen college web sites that are harder to navigate. I clicked "reload" on the schedule page so that the number of vistor counter would go up to make Doc think all you slackers are
on top of things and keepin' up with what's goin' down.

Great page, dad! I loved being in the drama team (was it for 10 years? 12?), and learned everything from spotlighting to accompaniment to how to leap in a Nebraska airport. Great page! Nice pics. - Rosie
Just popped on over to take the new site for a test drive--amazing. All of the pictures certainly brought back a flood of memories. Nate Tatro
The site looks great! Great info too...nice to see all the pictures and the history of the team (and troupe). Thanks so much for putting in all the extra time Doc, I don't think you could realize how appreciated it is!- J. McConnell
Nice to see the photos that show the enthusiasm for the plays. Always nice to see photos of Doc (my college roomie...). Ciao for now, George
Nice job on this site! Len, while it's a far cry from Tech Tantrums, it's easy to see how much you've enjoyed all this as well.Continued success. Dennis (Tech Tantrums was a high school variety show that Doc appeared in.)

Ohmigawd, ohmigawd!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the webpage. It is fab-u-lous! Fang-tang-u-lous. And quite nice! I am in "Escape from Happiness" by George Walker which is going up at the Hovey Players in Waltham, MA on Nov. 22-23 at 8PM, Nov. 29-30, 8 PM and Dec. 5-7 at 8PM. It is a dramedy and is hilarious. I think you would love it and it even might be something good to look at for the Drama Team. I play a vaguely lesbianic cop who is obsessed with lip balm and preserving the integrity of the police force. It is not a huge role but not small. I would say 'supporting' is a good adjective. Anyway, the cast is fabulous and so talented. We had our first read through last night. Did I tell you I started ( with friends) my own theater co in Lexington, MA? Its called the Biscuit Box Theater Co. and we did our first show in September. We did a few short comedies. It was fun, but stressful. And teaching is so much fun! I love it! I love introducing young minds to theater! Love it! Anyway, things are good here. What is the play this year? And when is it so I can come? How are you? Do write back!

The new page looks great, and is so efficient. Now maybe the Seniors will start handing their homework in on time *hint hint* Keep up the hard work Doc, as well as the rest of the team. The

I really really really think that we should do Fiddler on the Roof. I have guys willing to do it :-)
Doc,
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed looking at the pictures on the website. The Drury Drama Team is one of my best memories from high school. Before they renovated I went up to the stage to see it one last time the way it was when we were there. The pictures brought back all the fun times.
Thank you so much!
Hope things are well,
Annie

I LOVVEEEE the new site, Doc, it is so informative!!
Hey everyone! This is a cool page about our wicked cool drama team. Doc worked very hard on it and it has lots of cool pictures. As an officer, I encourage everyone to keep themselves updated through the use of this site. Shelby Lewis
I came to the page last night, and then I had a dream I was back on the team, performing a play that had me galloping about the
stage in a cape. In between lines I would actually run backstage and read my next one from the script, because I had no idea what I was doing. It's funny how dreams can be so true to life.
Good luck with your upcoming productions, I will probably be attending the Saturday performances of each one so keep an eye out.
Brian Rennell
I ran into Doc at the grocery store about a month ago now with the idea that he post some of the pictures from past DDT productions. I had no idea that it was going to be finished so quickly; thanks to Doc for all his hard work over the years and on this webpage, which looks fabulous, by the way. It was especially fun to look through all those great and memorable pictures. The Team was an important moment in my life and I thank you you all for the memories. Christopher Boucher

What a grande tour I had! Doc, you never cease to amaze me and obliviously I am not alone in knowing we are lucky to have you around. Wish you could sprinkle some fairy dust on the CBI website. Do you go there? Bob would love your input! It's the members who are as usual acting as usual. Great job, thanks! DMR
Great job, Len! David Leist, State Director, Ohio EdTA
I think the site is well done and has considerable potential for expansion. It could be a fine learning tool for those outside of

Doc, thank you so much for sending me an update about Drury's productions! This is a terrific website and I can't tell you how much
looking at those pictures made me miss The Drama Team. You always do an amazing job! I am glad you are still dedicated to
keeping theater alive at Drury. Thank you for the memories.
Becky Boland
Len, I spent my lunch hour today looking at your Drama Team web page. Nice job! Your love of the theatre shows in the faces of the young people you work with. They are so lucky to have someone with your love of the theatre and your dedication. What goes around, comes around!

...........
Doc!
Elizabeth has a storied history of production problems.
At the first production, the fire department decided that the space was unsafe and we had to move to a gym. (Above the Martin's living room, the inspiring words: Go Wildcats.) That production actually closed the Way Off Broadway players, the group in Missouri that premiered it.
Then at the much bigger production in New York, the set was a nightmare. It was a two story set, and to give the cast members time to make the quick entrances and exits, they installed a fire pole for the actors to slide down. Her second time down, Amanda sprained her ankle, and for most of the rehearsals read her lines from the audience with her foot in the air. Also, the (really sort of famous) set designer misgauged the sightlines for the second story. You couldn't see the actors in the bedroom if you were sitting in the first ten rows. So they kept chipping away at the suspended second story, foreshortening the bed and making tinier and tinier, until the upstairs bedroom was like a little island floating in space.
And you what? When it was all done, it worked just fine.
Hang in there. The pictures at least make it look like you guys are having fun.
Steve

Nice Site! Thanks for visiting my thespian troupe's site Dr. Radin.
-Daniel Herrstrom, President & Webmaster ITS Troupe 6257 (Iowa)
Thank you very much for the kind words. We our very proud of our Guild, and we like to build that pride into everything that we do. But the credit for the site design belongs to my predecessor (who graduated last year.) He designed the site. I merely maintain it as best I can.
I must also thank you and your webmaster for some ideas I've culled from your site. At the moment, our site is rather photo-deficient. Your site has inspired me to start a picture gallery.Anyhow, good luck to you and your program,

Doc!!!
It was so cool to see all of these pictures. First of all let me say that this
site looks GREAT. I was wondering though why some of the plays only have a few pictures? Were all the pictures lost b/c i know you take lots every year.
Anyways, it would be cool if you made a page that had pictures from all of the international thespian festivals. I miss you all and I will visit sometime.
And I still think we should try to have DDT reunions ;).. just something to think about heheheLove you all, Muah
Kristin Tatro
Doc's reply - Nice hearing from you, Kristin. The photos on this web site are only a small portion of the photographs we keep in our photos albums. No photo is lost it's just that if I put all the photos on the web site, it would take a very long time to download the pages.

Hey everyone!!!
Is this not the best website ever! There has yet to be one situation in which gasping didn't take place when I directed soemone here!
I really hope this will be "our best year ever!"
Peace out man. Dig it.
Katharine (Drama Team President)
Hi Doc:
First, let me wish you all good luck with your production of _Oz_. I'm jealous of all of the alums who are participating in the production. If I hadn't moved here to Pittsburgh to begin my research position with U. Pitt. Medical Center I'd most certainly be helping out in some way.
Second, encourage current members of the DDT to enjoy the lush theater experience that you're providing for them while they can. I remained active all throughout undergrad and now that it's done and I'm skipping about the "real world," I miss it terribly. I'm looking into some big-city, metropolitan-style theater here in Pittsburgh, but it all depends on my work schedule.
And third: I was reading through the syllabus for your section of Honors Theater. Holy mother of sandskirt! In particular, May 6th's homework ("Write a reasearch paper of at least five typed pages characterizing the theatrical period and how theatre was affected by the politics and social structure of the day. You should include costumes, makeup, acting style, and theatrical literature") is nearly identical to a final research paper that I wrote my Freshman year at Lycoming for my "Modern Drama" class. The play that I assessed, however, was _The Glass Menagerie_ by Tennessee Williams.
So you're preparing them well--even if they don't intend on majoring in theater (hey, I didn't).
Ok, good luck with the show. If somehow I manage to stumble into North Adams around production time, I'll be sure to grab a seat.
Nate Tatro (Nate is an honor alumnus of the Drury Drama Team)

Hi, my name is Courtney and I am a junior at Blue Ridge High School in beautiful Greenville, SC!! I'm part of drama at BRHS and I just wanted to comment on the beauty of your sets, costumes, and makeup. Blue Ridge is a tiny school and the community doesn't really get involved. It is really inspiring that you guys put on such (from what I see in the photos) gorgeous productions and have the community so involved with your efforts. Last year we had three productions of Les Miserable(NOT the musical)in which I played Madame Thenardier. Since then I've been dying to do a musical. I'm in love with ANNIE, so I went looking for ideas just incase the our director considers my proposal and I stumbled across you guys. I just wanted to send you a nice complement all the way from South Carolina!! Brake a leg during The Wizard of Oz (also one of my favorites)!!
God Bless, Courtney

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME....................... I have enjoyed this site since the first rehearsal and continue to enjoy it as each new pic is added. What a wonderful memory keeper for my kids and all who participated in this wonderful production of the wizard of oz. It went way beyond my dreams of greatness. The highschool kids as well as the alumni were so open hearted to the children from elementary and middle school. You have opened a door for them in theatre that they may not have walked through down the road if not for this wonderful experience. ThankYou all so much.......... Lisa Demarsico

I am the Pastor of a church in San Diego, and we are just beginning to reach out to the youth of our community by producing community plays. Hi Doc!
It’s GREAT to hear from you, and that you enjoyed my new site. You know
who designed it? Bill Desmaris! He says he and his father are your
patients! Talk about a small world... Things are going well for me. I’m
teaching in Boston while working on my doctorate in music, and I also have a
music publisher. I appreciate the invite to this weekend’s plays, but
unfortunately I’m not able to attend. My father says “hello,” and you
should know that we keep ourselves informed about the Drama Team by checking
the official web site. (It looks fantastic!) Again, I thank you for the
kind e-mail and hope you’re doing well, too!
Warmest wishes,
~Matt

Hi Doc!
I had a dream last night that made me think of you, so I thought that I'd send along an e-mail to see how you and the Team are doing.
In my dream, you were on tour throughout the D.C. metropolitan area, offering teacher workshops on how to implement a successful theater program in public high schools. At the end of one of your seminars, I tried to get to the podium to talk to you. However, secret service agents dressed in black suits with golden DDT insignias inscribed on their lapels kept pushing me back with billy clubs!
Also in the dream, I remember substitute teaching an acting class in a public high school with low-income, inner city kids. Somehow this part of the dream was a hybrid of the movies LEAN ON ME and SISTER ACT 2, whereby I
turned these kids' lives around through the love of theater! Maybe someday someone will make such a movie, and ask for you to be the leading role...?
Anyway, things are ok down here in Virginia. I'm still chugging along toward the Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at George Mason University and anticipate receiving my terminal Masters this Spring after defending my thesis (title: Phonological awareness' predictive utility for low, income, minority, second language learners' long term academic outcomes).
Also, I think that I might be auditioning for Bye Bye Birdie this weekend at a theatre in D.C. The director of this show is the same one who cast me as the lead in Love, Sex, and the IRS--the show that I was in last Spring. I think that he's considering me for Conrad Birdie--so wish me luck!
My Spring semester begins next week. I'm teaching another undergraduate class--Developmental Psychology. I have 75 students(!) and I can't wait to begin. I am, however, a little disappointed that I'll have to use Powerpoint to deliver my lectures simply due to the size of the auditorium in which I'll be teaching. I find Powerpoint very impersonal and prefer to use the chalkboard and group discussion in a more didactic instructional format. Hopefully I can find some way to make my lectures creative and engaging for the students.
Anyway, I hope that you and the Team remain well. You're all continually in my thoughts.
All the best,
~Nate

Hey Doc, how are things back at Drury? How's Sunday Night going? I wish I could come see it. Things here at AMDA are amazing. Classes are so intense but really fun since I don't have to worry about seven other core classes. :) Its great. I even saw Wicked for free. So I just thought I'd say, "Hi" and I wish you guys broken legs.- Chris Gutierrez

I'm taking so many classes from musical theater performance to ballet, performance choir, acting 1, theater dance, musical theater films, acting on camera and even private voice lessons. I even have an English comp class. I hope everybody who is serious about theater considers this school. I hope to see you guys soon.

Wow! I just spent the last 45 minutes trolling the drama team website! The pictures bring back SO many memories. Ha-I can't believe that so much time has gone by. I just finished a production of Midsummer recently [my first Drama Team show!], and I thought of our production constantly. I'm glad things are still going well, and will hopefully be able to come up and see a show soon.
Much love to all!

November, 2008 - The following is from famed playwright, Stephen Gregg concerning his play that we will premiere:
These program notes are being written relatively quickly.
That’s because I procrastinated. I procrastinated not because it’s my nature to do so (though it is) but because when he asked me to write them, Doc Radin also forwarded me Jamie Lee’s notes, and they were so articulate and so smart that I wasn’t sure what else I could say.
The only thing that prevents me from seeing this production Sunday Night is that I’m out of the country. (I’m in India, on my honeymoon.)
And I do deeply regret that I’m missing it.
I regret it for a a number of reasons, first and foremost that it’s a Drury High School production and – having known Len Radin for more than ten years – I know that means I’m missing something special. Doc Radin is exactly what a playwright wants in a director: he reads the script and then funnels it through his own extraordinary vision.
Just as important, I got to talk to the cast and the crew a few weeks ago, and it was easy to tell from their comments and questions that this will be a production full of intelligence and humanity (and spectacle!)
So sit back and enjoy the show. I wish I could be there with you.
And read Jamie Lee’s notes.

What an impressive Web Site. It is an honor to be a part of Drury High School, home of the Dynamite Drury Drama Team!!!! Your upcoming play piqued my curiosity and therefore I checked out the entire site. I feel lucky to have cast members right outside my classroom and even one of the stars in my classroom, who by the way is doing very well this year with his participation in class. I might go as far as saying the The Drama Team has definitely brought out the best in him! I like the new hair cut as well! I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming play, Sunday Night. What an experience!!!!

Dr. Radin, My name is Bill Buchynski and I am directing my first mainstage production at West Los Angeles College in LA. I want to thank you for some of the guidelines that you have made available online for others to use when it comes to managing a play production. I am using alot of your ideas and I appreciate it greatly. Thanks alot.

So I'm standing in my ballet beginner class watching my very spaztic but adorable ballet teacher talk to us aboput still beign in the industry and she told me something I wish all my Drury Drama Team loves would hear. She said to NEVER question the DIRECTOR or question a note until s/he is done and you can always have an opinion BUT not until after the DIRECTOR is done DIRECTING. so yeah actors choices are welcome but in the end. Never question or back talk the DIRECTOR or no one will want to work with you!!!!!

It's nice to hear from you too! 22 years!!!! Oh dear lord I'm old!! I actually came across the Miracle Worker poster a few weeks ago and my 4 year old son wanted to know why I had a picture of a girl in a frame! Hard to believe it's been that long out of high school, nevermind the fact that I have a 4 year old!
